Yesterday morning I had the joy of being interviewed by my good friend, David Madeira. He has a cutting edge early morning talk show based from Scranton, PA From 6:00 a.m. To 9:00 a.m. EST. David’s seasoned experience makes him the best of talk show hosts. He is a doctor, ran for Senate, trained in nutrition, is a family man and loves God. Plus, his articulation, humor and ability to see beyond the surface helps others to think deeper.
This morning’s interview was fun because I was to give an eye witness account of an event I attended this past weekend in Dallas. It was held at our massive Dallas Cowboy Stadium and the event was called, “Restoring Love.” Thousands attended to celebrate serving the needs of others as they voluntarily gave time, money and energy to be a “brother’s keeper” on their own without any government program assisting them. The memorable event also was filled with people desiring America to return to its vision, greatness and servant leadership.
While doing the interview I commented on some of the previous discussion about the latest controversy over “Chick-fil-A” C.E.O.’s comments on his vision, beliefs for the company and their traditional family and marriage values. He had shared their principles that had founded the company to a religious interview . The world press took it and began to stir up trouble for this very successful food chain that serves with joy and goes the extra mile in all they do. The heightened strife caused some mayors of major cities to make public refusals of welcoming “Chick-fil-A” into their cities and markets. People have been outraged by such bullying and form of intimidation, in what most think to be a “tolerant” world, and they are fighting back. Mike Huckabee declared Aug. 1st to be the national, “Chick-fil-A” Day and has encouraged people around the nation to order big time that day. It gives a new meaning to “Super-Size it.” Our office and family plan on joining the public revolt and encouragement with some chicken nuggets to go.
One impacting event I watched this weekend was hosted by James Robison called, “Indivisible.” The rally was held live in the DFW region with multiple visionary speakers who renewed my love and vision for America. The six hour event is being edited and will be available online later this week at Daystar On Demand. Though all were good, my favorite was National Hispanic Evangelical Leader, Samuel Rodriguez, whose words I still hear in my head. His session alone is worth your viewing. The line that most impacted me was from Richard Land. He asked, “Are we the people we have been waiting for?”
Well… are we? It seems like most wait on someone else to come and fix us, or fix America, or fix – whatever. What if the changes needed depended on you and your involvement. Would you?
Consider your life and its strategic position. You are able to make a difference in impacting your generation. Your life has value and your service is welcomed. You are a vital part of history. Do more than just watch it from the stands. You get one chance at your life. Serve others with joy. Live on purpose. Continue to be refined as you aim for the target of greatness. Be authentic and never give up – on yourself or others. Live with vision and not merely by what you see. Seize each moment for good knowing your actions will impact the generations yet to come. America, this is your finest hour. Choose wisely!
What are you waiting for?
When you choose to look past the horizon… the sky is the limit!
