Recently, I was asked why I became a Life Coach.  My answer was simple. I have always loved two things—life and people. Couple it with my purpose in life to inspire others to see beyond, coaching just seemed  like a natural addition. Looking back, I have done it for years long before I was given any title or charged for my services.

It first began with friends and people who would talk to me at my book table after a speaking engagement. Without even trying, I found myself often talking and then moving with ease into a coaching situation on airplane flights, various meetings, phone calls and with leaders of all kinds, even with entire management teams and CEOs.

One man in Michigan thanked me in tears with a renewed hope and vision for his corporate position. A man next to me on the flight from STL to DFW said I had done more for him in the two-hour flight than anyone had his entire life. He got on the plane discouraged from a business deal and got off the same plane with clarity of purpose and confidence to take his business to a new level. We continue to stay in touch and I remain his cheerleader.

Most have a dream or an idea that they are sitting on, however, it is usually buried under their overbooked calendars and hectic lifestyle. My coaching questions begin to unlock the treasure that lie within and soon many things become clear. Often it is excuses and fear of failure that take precedent over the dream becoming reality.  Sometimes, not knowing where to begin halts actions and we are discouraged and feel trapped. Definitely, a game plan is needed for taking the first step. Many times there are a variety of hurts, failures and doubts that are underlying their paralyzed state, leaving them feeling stuck.  The joy of seeing that turned around is not just in finding the buried treasure in the end, but working out a game plan and beginning to run the incredible race — called Life.

A top female executive from NYC called me for coaching and in a few sessions she had new presentations outlined and plans to write two corresponding books.  I enjoyed coaching a man who actually does marketing as a career, but he had overlooked his own strategies for his new business.

Coaching is something that comes natural for me and many are amazed at how well I really do see. Just recently a woman, while talking over dinner, dropped her fork on her plate startled and asked me, “How did you know to ask me that question?” Then she asked me, “Are you a reader of hearts?” Chuckling I replied, “No, I simply tapped into something that you have always carried in your heart, but were afraid to share.” Feeling safe, she opened her heart to me as she began to see her dreams were possible.

I have been challenged to expand my coaching times and I am excited. The playing field is getting bigger and I have arranged my schedule to make more room to coach others. I love what I get to do. My prayer is transformed lives. It is my measurement for success. I am grateful to God for giving me the ability to serve my generation and help others to see beyond.

I have found three things to be common in people.

*People under estimate the ideas and dreams they carry.

*People believe their excuses more than believing in themselves and the One who gave the dream.

*People fail to see they have been given a strategic position in their lifetime in history.

My motivational presentations often result in people responding to live with a new determination to seize the day and live on purpose. I love the story of the woman who  heard me speak recently. She sent a picture of her plane ticket and told about her applying to the international school of her dreams. She heard me encourage her to reach—and she did. And then there’s the story of the company that added a new division to their production schedule because they finally could see what small steps were needed to get them to the next level.

My husband and I coached a married couple about their dreams for different house. By the end of the same day they had put a contract on a home. I have had the privilege of coaching great people to embrace their life purpose and see them write new books, develop new presentations, birth new businesses and create productions on a stage to the delight of multiple audiences.

What is keeping you from going to the next level? What are you overlooking? Who told you that you can’t? Oh yes you can! You won’t know until you try. Need some coaching to get you off the bench and back on the track to being sharp at your game? Call me. Let’s talk.

One thing I know for sure, only you can live your life. When will you begin?

Thinking about it again—I really do love what I get to do with my life. Speaking, writing and being a national radio host all complement each other. However, there is no greater joy than coaching people and helping them go to the next level. If not you…who?

If not now… when?

When you choose to look past the horizon… the sky is the limit!
