Not Disabled, Overcoming Obstacles, Author of Seeing Beyond, Vision through hopeI just finished doing an hour radio interview with someone whom I have had a “voice-crush” on for years—Chris Fabry. His show is “Chris Fabry Live” on the Moody Radio network.  I was not disappointed talking with him personally. He had insightful questions and dug for the rich treasure beyond our story. Plus, an hour interview lets you go deeper than the typical ten to fifteen minute interviews I often do. AND, my own radio features currently are two-minutes in length so I almost felt guilty just enjoying our conversation as the world listened in.

The more radio I do the more I love it. And, it is a perfect match for my world—no one can see anything. Today’s program was based out of Chicago. Chris hosted from Arizona and I sat in the “PowerPoint” studio in Dallas. What an amazing world we live in.

One thing I mentioned to the listening audience today was about not seeing. If my audiences only hear the part of my life message that I gradually lost my eyesight while having our family, they have missed the whole core of my McTales. Living blind is NOT the issue. Living with no vision is the real disability. Vision always sees in the darkest places of life. Joy is not about happenings but choices. And, hope always sees.

Some think my story is about overcoming some disability. What does that word mean anyway? In the middle of anyone being “disabled” the good news is that God is able! Grace is about His ability and nothing is impossible with Him.

I once spoke for Texas A&M, at the Laredo campus. My presentation title—“The Disabled Leader—NO vision!”  Living only by what you see is deceptive. Reacting to your children, spouse or world based on what you see will cause you to overlook destiny and potential. Seeing is only temporal at best—subject to change without notice. So then, isn’t the world at large disabled? They are limited by excuses and misbeliefs. They won’t go until they see the outcome and refuse to believe unless they can see.

What disability blurs your way? Get off the disabled list. Choose His ability as your life-partner. Who would ever need rose-tinted glasses when the clear picture is grand? My disabilities for His ability are an extravagant exchange, no matter where you look.

When you choose to look past the horizon…the sky’s the limit.
