For the last blogging months on my web site every Friday’s blog has been about someone new I have met along my life journey. I have many more to share with you, but today at the end of 2012 I wanted to pay tribute to some of the great and wonderful people I have met. In my book you are famous and your life a gift. Being famous is relative and there is always someone who either knows you, or has never heard of you. SO! Keep living and make your mark on history. Impact your own generation with good.
As I think back on the last year, I think of some people as I write who you may not know, but they are incredible. Did you know the quadriplegic, Joni Eareckson Tada has an assistant named, Bev, who is also in a wheelchair? She is a survivor of polio. Joni’s director of her Dallas office has seven children, with one severely handicapped by C.P. He was a twin whose brother died in the womb and it caused her surviving son’s crippling disease.
I think one of my husband’s dear friends is Nick. He is our mechanic but the change in his life and coming to Christ is contagious when you talk with this new man. He would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you needed it. His big smile and a God bless you, plus his expertise to fix any vehicle in his small town shop, makes you know there are some really good people in life.
Beth is my friend and receptionist at our son’s school. She is sharp and knows all—well at the school that is! She is kind, professional and always helpful to aid you to find whatever you need. Her voice on the end of the phone is always pleasant. What an asset to any organization.
Some guys are essential and work hard, who are always behind the scenes. Nothing would happen live on the air without them. Like: Larry, my radio producer; Scott, two Steve’s from Tucson; Armando and his audio team; Tim and Jonathan; Dorea and Kevin; plus, thousands like them. You are only as good as your sound—especially when it comes to production.
What about Gary who farms and gives bushels to God’s work; Michael who reaps from his position to give to outreaches; Tris and Britney who hit it out of the park with their faithful support to ministries? Linda and Tom, along with Rhonda and Rex, stand in the shadows to lend support. Jennifer has experienced salvation and a lifestyle change and months of sobriety as her new wardrobe. Bill and Del usher and Carl always has an inviting greeting at the door.
Countless teachers, coaches and servers give daily and influence many. Cleaning crews who get a building ready for people; chefs in the back kitchen; hairdressers who customize your look, hiding your flaws; and more who serve us daily in places we may overlook. To Maryellen, Becky and Tina who make you feel welcome in a foreign region. Tracey and Laura who find food to share. Mark who had some extra tickets to share. David and Sandy with encouraging phone calls. Jane and Mike with neighborly waves and helpful tools along the way. Keith and Donna who care for other’s children like they were their own; and Mona and Warren, and Jeff and Jana, who open their home. My list is too long to count and too many to identify. Each day I meet some great people who impact my life. Who have you met along the way worthy of your mention and thanks? Do it!
AND, you! I am so glad we have met along life’s road. I can’t wait to tell others, “Guess who I met?”
When you choose to look past the horizon… the sky is the limit!
